Our operation

We work primarily in five areas.

Meeting others. Community strengthening through social activities.
Peer support. Conversations on your own terms with someone else who is living with HIV.
Right to knowledge. Accessible information for everyone affected by HIV.
HIV on the agenda. Advocacy work and education from a rights perspective.
Own your story. Methods for storytelling and increased representation.

Positiva Gruppen Väst’s work is developed and implemented in the form of projects that are planned and coordinated by the board and employees. The activities are financed primarily with HIV funds via the Swedish Public Health Agency.

Association

Leadership

The annual meeting is our highest decision-making body. It is held on the last Wednesday in February each year. The last date for submission of motions to the annual meeting is 31 December.

The board consists of at least two thirds of people who themselves live with HIV, which is a pillar of our operation. The board has the overall responsibility for the association, and follows up on the operational plan decided on at the annual meeting.

Membership

Anyone who supports the association’s purpose and statutes can become a member. As a member, you have the right to vote at the annual meeting. You also get our magazine Leva med hiv (Living with HIV) and invitations to workshops and social activities. All members have the right to be anonymous to the extent they wish.

The membership fee is only SEK 10 per year. Membership is free for people without paperwork or income.
